This role is for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a new platform infrastructure team, responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of Verkada's cloud-based systems. You will provide strategic direction on infrastructure reliability, scalability, and availability while maintaining hands-on technical involvement in coding, design reviews, and production issue resolution.
Key responsibilities include: setting technical vision and strategic direction for global infrastructure; managing cross-functional collaboration with product and engineering teams on critical business initiatives; hands-on guidance of the team through code reviews and technical problem-solving; and building and leading the team through recruitment, mentoring, and performance management.
Required qualifications: 2+ years managing and leading engineering teams (hiring, retention, performance); 10+ years software engineering experience with proven technical leadership in designing scalable solutions; CS/IT degree or equivalent; proficiency in agile development and project management; strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; experience with Python or Go and backend development (frameworks, databases).
Nice-to-have skills include Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, service mesh (Istio), and hands-on leadership experience in high-growth platform teams. Verkada sponsors employment visas for qualified candidates.
