Redis is seeking an Engineering Manager for Platform to lead a team responsible for infrastructure and platform services that power customer-facing Redis applications. The team builds and operates shared systems including service control planes, lifecycle APIs, deployment automation, Kubernetes orchestration, identity and access management, observability, release workflows, and operational tooling.
In this role, you will combine people leadership, technical judgment, and delivery ownership. You'll create an environment where engineers excel, partner with product and engineering leaders to translate customer and business needs into a clear roadmap, and ensure the team delivers durable platform capabilities across cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments. You'll remain technically engaged enough to guide architectural decisions and manage risk without becoming the primary implementer.
Key responsibilities include leading and growing a team of engineers through clear expectations, feedback, and career development; owning team execution from planning through delivery and production operation; translating cloud platform strategy into operational plans and pragmatic roadmaps; allocating resources to meet schedules while managing capacity and dependencies; establishing clear ownership and operating practices for platform services; guiding technical decisions and architectural tradeoffs; driving reliability through SLAs, SLOs, and observability; balancing product delivery with platform investments; building partnerships across product engineering, SRE, security, and infrastructure teams; engaging customers where appropriate; identifying dependencies and risks early; improving engineering practices for system design, testing, CI/CD, and release automation; and hiring while building an inclusive, collaborative team culture.
Required qualifications include experience managing or formally leading a software engineering team with coaching and career development; strong background in distributed systems, infrastructure services, backend systems, or platform engineering; experience delivering and operating production systems with accountability for reliability and customer impact; strong technical judgment to guide architecture without owning every implementation; working knowledge of Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and modern software delivery; understanding of infrastructure fundamentals (compute, networking, storage, IAM, secrets, service-to-service communication, observability); experience planning and delivering complex work across team boundaries; resource allocation and capacity planning experience; ability to partner effectively with product managers, senior engineers, SRE, security, and infrastructure teams; clear written and verbal communication; track record of building healthy teams with high standards and psychological safety; and comfort helping engineers use AI-assisted development tools effectively.
Preferred experience includes managing platform, infrastructure, SRE, or developer productivity teams; building internal platforms, control planes, Kubernetes operators, or shared developer infrastructure; supporting enterprise software across cloud, hybrid, or on-premise environments; and experience with distributed databases, data infrastructure, data movement, or streaming systems.
