Salary: USD 229,000 - 315,000 / annual
Motive is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Core Infrastructure and Operations Engineering organization. You will manage and mentor a multi-functional team spanning SRE, Operations, Data & AI Platform, and Database Engineering. Your primary responsibility is owning the cloud platform, running infrastructure as a product, and driving enterprise-grade reliability for mission-critical systems that serve nearly 100,000 customers across transportation, logistics, construction, energy, field service, manufacturing, and other industries.
Key responsibilities include leading and scaling a high-performing engineering team responsible for core platform systems used company-wide; defining and driving multi-quarter platform initiatives that improve developer velocity, system reliability, and product leverage; partnering closely with product and engineering leaders to evolve the platform as a product while balancing long-term architecture with near-term business needs; taking ambiguous, high-impact problem areas such as system scalability, reliability, and platform abstractions and turning them into clear execution plans; driving alignment across multiple teams working on complex, interdependent systems including internal platforms, infrastructure, and cloud governance; and raising the bar on engineering quality, operational excellence, and execution across the platform organization.
You will be called upon to lead during critical moments and operate with company executives. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience as an engineering leader with deep expertise in running cloud platforms at scale and a strong sense for systems architecture. Required qualifications include a degree in Computer Science or equivalent, ability to collaborate and work effectively cross-functionally with strong ownership, experience managing teams of engineers and being responsible for multiple projects concurrently, very strong domain knowledge in cloud infrastructure and observability, experience interfacing with vendors, partners, and cost governance, understanding of Data and ML infrastructure, and experience driving processes and programs to raise the bar on engineering excellence.
