This is one of Everlab's first Engineering Management hires. You will lead the Platform team, which owns the cloud infrastructure supporting the product and the developer experience that determines how quickly and safely other engineering squads can ship. The team currently has 5 engineers with expected growth as the company scales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing the squad: owning delivery, team health, performance management, hiring, and career development
- Owning infrastructure and reliability: ensuring the platform remains dependable as Everlab expands globally, while managing cost, observability, and on-call scaling
- Owning developer experience and tooling: identifying and removing friction in how engineers build, test, and ship code
- Treating internal engineers as customers: measuring developer experience and making deliberate reliability versus velocity trade-offs
- Setting squad direction with the Tech Lead: aligning goals, rhythm, and work with broader engineering needs
- Embedding AI into team practices: making effective AI tooling part of everyday work
Required experience:
- Management experience with a platform, DevOps, infrastructure, or developer experience background
- Strong technical depth in cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS), infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, reliability, and observability
- Customer obsession for internal developers: measuring friction and taking removing it seriously
- Sound judgment on velocity versus reliability trade-offs and people management skills
- Seriousness about healthcare: understanding regulated environments, privacy, and patient safety
- Startup/scaleup experience: comfort with pace, variety, and opportunities at this growth stage
The role is hybrid with 3 days per week in the Sydney office (Surry Hills). Benefits include work-life flexibility, access to the Everlab health program after probation, and an Employee Share Option Plan.
