Cartesia is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a core platform engineering team. You'll build and grow a team of 7+ engineers, own the technical direction and execution, and serve as both a hands-on technical leader and people manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building, leading, and developing a high-performing engineering team through hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development
- Owning your team's roadmap, priorities, and outcomes while driving a high shipping cadence
- Providing technical leadership on architecture, design reviews, complex technical problems, and production incidents
- Developing deep understanding of your team's systems and technical tradeoffs to challenge assumptions and unblock the team
- Partnering closely with Product, Research, and other teams to set direction and deliver company priorities
- Ensuring systems scale ahead of business growth while maintaining high standards for performance, reliability, and engineering quality
You should bring:
- Proven experience managing and developing high-performing engineering teams with strong coaching and career development skills
- Strong technical depth and engineering judgment to earn credibility with experienced engineers and engage in architecture decisions
- Track record leading teams through complex technical projects in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Strong ownership and prioritization skills with ability to balance near-term execution and long-term investments
- Experience building large-scale distributed systems with high performance, reliability, and observability demands
- Strong cross-functional leadership to align stakeholders around technical decisions
- Bonus: experience scaling engineering teams through rapid growth or organizational change
- Bonus: background in machine learning, AI infrastructure, or generative models
