Salary: USD 233,000 - 274,000 / annual

Checkr is on the Forbes Cloud 100 2025 list and was named a Y Combinator 2024 Breakthrough Company. The Truework team is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Mortgage Verifications Team. This team builds and launches new products, customer-facing experiences, and enhances the Truework platform—a critical component of Checkr's verification infrastructure. You will partner closely with product managers and stakeholders to create software and experiences that delight customers while advancing architecture and systems for next-generation offerings. Your decisions will impact millions of consumers annually and help businesses make fast, informed, and safe decisions. Key responsibilities include: driving technical vision that motivates the team; partnering with product management on new features and enhancements; reducing technical debt and scaling architecture sustainably; building customer relationships and driving results; nurturing and growing team members; hiring top talent; representing the team in planning and product meetings; and optimizing engineering processes for velocity and quality. You bring 4+ years as an engineering manager and 8+ years as an engineer. You excel at critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and attention to detail. You have experience managing quality incidents as both technical and communication lead, and have worked on regulated products at scale understanding data, legal, and human impact nuances. You're skilled in TDD, pair programming, and agile methodologies; understand service architecture, system design, and lean software development; and can make high-level prioritization decisions quickly. You develop inclusive teams, demonstrate humility and openness to feedback, and bring an A-player mindset with bias for action, urgency, resilience, and ownership. Experience with machine learning and AI is a plus.
