As Engineering Manager of Infrastructure, you'll lead a team responsible for the platform foundations that power Assort's AI agents and products. Your scope includes observability, CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, reliability infrastructure, and cross-cutting systems that enable all engineering pods to ship faster and operate reliably.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and lead a high-performing infrastructure and platform team, including hiring and coaching
- Scale platform systems powering Assort's AI agents: observability, CI/CD, developer tooling, reliability infrastructure
- Own cross-cutting systems and services spanning multiple product teams, ensuring consistent reliability and performance
- Drive technical decisions on GCP infrastructure, Kubernetes, monitoring/alerting, and data infrastructure
- Partner with product engineering teams to unblock them, improve developer velocity, and maintain operational excellence
- Design and ship internal tools and automation that increase engineer productivity
- Balance reliability, cost, and developer experience while solving complex infrastructure problems
You'll be technical and hands-on: leading architecture reviews, debugging incidents alongside the team, and setting the bar for AI-assisted development practices.
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years software engineering experience with 2+ years in an engineering manager role
- Track record building and leading high-performing teams in fast-moving environments
- Strong engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to design, build, and scale production-grade infrastructure or platform systems
- Experience with distributed systems, platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, observability, or SRE practices
- Systems-thinking: balancing reliability, performance, cost, and developer experience under uncertainty
- Experience with Kubernetes, GCP/AWS, Grafana/Prometheus, data infrastructure, and infrastructure-as-code
- Comfort wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced environment with rapid iteration and learning from failure
