Salary: USD 198,000 - 293,000 / annual
Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products to enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The Identity and Access Management (IAM) group is responsible for authentication and authorization across Adyen's platform, ensuring secure and seamless access for human and system users while maintaining system integrity and confidentiality.
As Engineering Manager for Identity and Access Management, you will lead a team responsible for critical authentication and authorization systems that directly impact Adyen's core operations. You'll work closely with product teams, engineering peers, and cross-functional stakeholders to design and deliver the next generation of IAM solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading hands-on technical work by actively coding, participating in code reviews, and driving system design discussions
- Ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability of authentication and authorization systems that are part of Adyen's critical flows
- Mentoring and coaching engineers to maintain high-quality standards and foster technical excellence
- Building an inclusive team culture centered on ownership, autonomy, collaboration, and open communication
- Managing stakeholder relationships across the organization to align technical solutions with business objectives
You bring 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams and delivering scalable solutions. You have strong software engineering fundamentals with deep system design skills and hands-on experience in Java, Postgres, and Redis. You've worked with critical, high-load distributed systems and understand the importance of reliability and scalability. You're a hands-on manager who codes alongside your team, sets high quality bars, and develops engineers through mentoring and coaching. You maintain a growth mindset and stay current with industry trends.
The role is based in San Francisco with an office-first culture requiring in-office presence at least 3 days per week on average.
