Anthropic is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Platform Security Engineering (PSE) group within Data Center Security Engineering (DCSE). This is a hands-on management role overseeing firmware research, OS and kernel hardening, platform trust integration, and server manageability firmware.
You will own the roadmap for platform security across Anthropic's expanding infrastructure—from traditional cloud providers to owned facilities, colocation, and partner sites. Your responsibilities include leading and growing a team of platform security engineers, managing hiring, onboarding, and performance; owning the platform security roadmap covering hardware roots of trust, secure and measured boot, attestation, and firmware supply chain integrity; driving platform risk assessments for new compute platforms and making evidence-based go/no-go recommendations; and managing relationships with silicon vendors, OEMs, and compute providers on security requirements and vulnerability management.
You will partner closely with infrastructure, fleet, compute, and detection/response teams to ensure platform controls land in production without degrading training or inference performance. You'll run the team's operating rhythm including design reviews, threat models, incident participation, and clear written status to leadership. While this is a management role, you will review designs, make final calls on hard trade-offs, and reason with engineers across the full stack from silicon root of trust through firmware, bootloader, kernel, and host software.
Minimum qualifications include 10+ years in systems security with at least 5 years focused on firmware, hardware, or OS-level security; 5+ years as a people manager of security or systems engineers including hiring and developing senior/staff-level engineers; deep technical knowledge of secure boot, measured boot, TPM, attestation protocols (SPDM, DICE), UEFI/BMC firmware, and Linux kernel hardening; ownership of a technical roadmap end-to-end with prioritization across security, performance, and delivery; direct experience with silicon vendors, OEMs, or cloud/bare-metal providers on security requirements; and strong written communication skills for design reviews and executive status.
Preferred qualifications include experience managing mixed teams of full-time engineers, contractors, and vendor engineers; hands-on background in OpenBMC, DRTM, or confidential computing primitives (TDX, SEV-SNP, ARM CCA); and upstream contributions or maintainership in Linux or comparable projects.
