As Engineering Manager for the Growth Pod, you will lead a full-stack product team of four engineers, a PM, a designer, and a data scientist. You report directly to the VP of Engineering and own both team health and delivery. Your responsibilities include shaping an ambitious roadmap, driving execution, building team culture, developing your direct reports' careers, and staying actively involved in technical work.
The Growth Pod operates on a rapid experimentation cadence, testing new ideas and making data-driven decisions about what resonates with users seeking help. The team focuses on delivering experiences that help people find Atticus and understand how the platform can assist them in moments of crisis.
Engineering Managers at Atticus are hands-on leaders. You'll review PRs, weigh in on architecture decisions, and dive into technical details alongside teammates. You're expected to be directly accountable for output quality and actively coach technical work. You should have experience managing at least three engineers for over a year, growing engineers at all levels, and having difficult performance conversations. You've worked in high-performing product organizations with strong PMs and designers, understand how engineers own product outcomes, and have operated with ambiguity and limited resources in startup or startup-like environments.
You've been using AI coding tools seriously in your own work and have a perspective on maximizing their value without compromising quality. Hands-on coding, code review, and strong opinions about system design are essential.
Nice-to-have skills include expertise in A/B testing, experiment design, and growth-focused rapid iteration; proficiency with Go, TypeScript, Next.js, Temporal, or GCP; and background in complex professional workflows (legal, healthcare, financial services).
