Kraken, one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms with over 10 million users, is seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional Consumer pod. You will manage a team of Frontend (React/React Native) and Backend (Rust) engineers responsible for building and scaling core consumer experiences across Kraken's mobile and web platforms.
In this role, you will own end-to-end UX for key consumer features, guide delivery of high-quality applications with focus on usability, performance, and scale, and partner closely with Product Managers and Designers to define and ship high-impact features. You'll collaborate with other Engineering Managers and Tech Leads to maintain consistent engineering standards, champion code quality and maintainable architectures, and mentor engineers to foster a culture of technical growth and collaboration.
You'll strengthen team organization and delivery using agile processes, project tracking, and engineering metrics (DORA, cycle time). This is an opportunity to shape consumer-facing functionality used daily by a global user base in the crypto and financial services space.
Required: proven experience leading engineering teams on customer-facing products at scale; experience managing combined frontend and backend teams; deep technical background in React Native and modern frontend architectures; strong cross-functional leadership; excellent communication and stakeholder management; empathy for customer needs and passion for intuitive, performant UX; experience with large-scale consumer or financial products.
Nice to have: systems design or distributed architecture background; working knowledge of Rust, Go, or C++; familiarity with async architectures, APIs, and microservices; payments and card domain experience.
