Flock Safety is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Device Validation team, responsible for architecting and executing automated hardware validation frameworks across the company's public safety technology suite. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, requiring deep expertise in embedded systems, low-level Linux, and cloud integration. You will own the software architecture and design of automated hardware validation frameworks, build and manage the physical validation lab infrastructure at Flock's Atlanta facilities, and develop shared test libraries and automation tools using Python, C, and low-level Linux configurations. You'll direct the relational test data store architecture to enable diagnostic analytics across embedded devices and cloud platforms, and lead cross-functional initiatives with hardware, OS, and cloud engineering teams throughout product development lifecycles. This is not a hands-off administrative role—you will remain technically engaged with schematics, low-level C code, and lab hardware instrumentation. You will directly manage the physical validation lab, bridge low-level electronics with cloud backends, and be on-site at Atlanta facilities to lead lab operations and engage with prototype hardware. Required qualifications include demonstrated engineering leadership guiding cross-functional hardware and software teams through complex product lifecycles; low-level C programming proficiency for peripheral testing and high-level scripting in Python or Bash; hands-on familiarity with embedded Linux, build environments, and kernel communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART); practical knowledge of electronic schematics, circuit verification, and diagnostic lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers); ability to design relational test databases using PostgreSQL or MySQL; and a degree in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent practical experience. Experience with Linux driver development or battery power management validation is a plus. Flock Safety supports over 1 million criminal investigations annually and has located more than 10,000 missing people. The company is backed by over $1B in funding and employs 1,700 people building public safety technology.
