Productboard is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Developer Experience and Platform team, responsible for how engineers build, test, release, monitor, and operate software. This is a strategic role at the center of Productboard's AI-first transformation, where the goal is to turn ideas into validated learning twice as fast.
You will own developer experience end-to-end, identifying and removing friction in the engineering workflow. Key responsibilities include:
• Building a production pipeline where merged changes reach production the same day with safe, trustworthy gates and tests
• Creating a context layer in the repository with versioned guidance that AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex) load automatically, improving AI output without manual configuration
• Implementing AI-powered code review that catches correctness, security, and maintainability issues before human review, with filtered false positives
• Developing PR segmentation to route more changes toward automated deployments
• Owning engineering dashboards and team health metrics with leading and lagging indicators
• Building an on-call system engineers trust, with clear ownership, executable runbooks, meaningful alerts, and defined reliability targets
• Creating incident response agents that triage alerts, pull logs, surface historical context, and propose fixes
• Selecting and managing infrastructure and tooling with visible cost and capacity per team
You will also own production operations, infrastructure, cloud costs, and capacity planning. You'll define your team's engineering strategy and roadmap, balancing developer experience, reliability, cost, and sustainability. You'll treat internal engineers as customers, understand their workflows, and build an AI-first platform with machine-readable contracts and embedded AI across the engineering lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is a backend engineer at heart who still writes production code and brings deep technical credibility. You have at least two years of experience managing engineers, helping individuals grow while building high-performing teams. You deeply understand developer workflows and have improved productivity through tooling, processes, or platform capabilities. You've owned production operations including on-call, incident response, and reliability. You bring thoughtful recommendations, make decisions transparently, value direct feedback, and use AI tools daily in your workflow. Experience with infrastructure, cloud cost planning, and engineering tooling is a strong plus.
