MNTN is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Data Platform team, which builds foundational data infrastructure and tooling for data engineers, analysts, and data scientists across the company. The Data Platform team owns the internal data platform as a product, enabling high-quality, self-serve, and scalable data workflows through well-designed systems and strong engineering practices, covering ingestion, transformation, orchestration, observability, and governance. In this hands-on engineering leadership role, you will work closely with a Staff Engineer to define the roadmap, coordinate execution, and ensure the team delivers high-leverage tools and systems for internal customers. You'll stay close to the code, contribute to key projects, and set a strong technical bar while supporting and growing a team of engineers. Key responsibilities include: leading the Data Platform team in designing and maintaining core infrastructure; partnering with the Principal Engineer on technical roadmap and architecture; collaborating cross-functionally with data science, analytics, product, and engineering teams; ensuring high reliability, scalability, and usability of the data platform; establishing best practices for data engineering; providing hands-on technical leadership through design discussions, code reviews, and code contributions; hiring, coaching, and developing engineers; and managing communication around platform roadmap and priorities to stakeholders. Success looks like a self-serve data platform that internal teams trust and adopt, reliable and well-governed data infrastructure with strong observability and low incident rates, a clear technical roadmap delivered predictably in partnership with the Staff Engineer, a growing high-performing team with strong engineering practices, and strong stakeholder confidence in the platform's direction and reliability. You bring 7+ years of software engineering experience including 2+ years leading teams or projects, demonstrated experience building internal platforms or developer tools in data-intensive environments, strong understanding of modern data infrastructure (orchestration, warehousing, streaming, transformation tools), proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), containers, and infrastructure-as-code, ability to lead cross-functional workstreams, a product mindset focused on solving real user problems, and willingness to be hands-on while building a high-performing team.
