FloQast is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Data Platform team to lead engineers building and operating the infrastructure that powers data ingestion, governance, storage, processing, and access across the product and analytics systems. This is a hybrid technical and people-management role: approximately 50% hands-on technical work (writing code, designing systems, making architecture decisions) and 50% people leadership (hiring, developing talent, unblocking, setting direction).
You will have deep expertise in data infrastructure technologies including Apache Spark (both PySpark and Scala), Structured Streaming, Kafka at scale, and data lakehouse architectures. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with modern data stack components: Iceberg, S3, Apache Airflow (MWAA), AWS Glue, Trino, Athena, and Kafka on MSK. You understand the nuances of distributed data processing—from Spark shuffle optimization to Iceberg compaction tuning to debugging via the Spark UI.
You have prior management experience or have served as an informal technical lead. You understand that technical impact multiplies through people and are ready to own full management responsibility. You can hold technical authority on data compute and architecture decisions while simultaneously building and developing the team executing them.
FloQast's data platform (FloLake) serves 30,000+ tenants and runs a production lakehouse stack. You'll work across the full technology stack, making principled technical decisions and developing engineers who can do the same. This role requires someone who loves both the technical depth of data infrastructure and the challenge of building high-performing engineering teams.
