ServiceTitan is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Data Foundations team, responsible for data ingestion, data quality, and cost management across the company's data platform. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll manage and mentor a team of 5+ data engineers spanning the US and India, while staying personally engaged in architecture and technical direction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing a distributed engineering team across multiple regions and time zones, with emphasis on ownership, psychological safety, and clear feedback
- Staying hands-on with architecture review, code review, prototyping solutions, and personally guiding technical direction rather than delegating all design work
- Driving architecture for data ingestion (Kafka, custom ETL agents), Snowflake, and Airflow; owning data quality tooling and monitoring strategy; and leading cost optimization initiatives
- Owning operational posture including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and on-call rotations; championing data governance best practices; and collaborating with product, architecture, and business stakeholders
Required qualifications:
- 8+ years in data or software engineering with 2+ years managing engineering teams of 5 or more
- Proven experience building and leading engineering teams across multiple regions with async-first practices
- Technical depth in cloud providers, Kubernetes, Kafka, Snowflake, Iceberg/Delta/Hudi, Airflow, and Python; strong understanding of distributed systems trade-offs
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to align cross-functional stakeholders and influence without direct authority
Nice-to-have skills include experience with CDC patterns (Debezium), dbt or modern transformation frameworks, building new regional engineering hubs, and AI-assisted engineering tools.
