DeepL is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Customisation Hub team, a core pillar of their enterprise translation platform. The Customisation Hub enables organizations to apply their own terminology, style rules, translation memory, and brand voice to translations at scale—a key differentiator for large enterprise customers.
You will lead a small, senior full-stack team responsible for the entire customisation surface: glossaries and terminology management, style rules and profiles, translation memory, sharing, and administrative governance. This role spans backend services and a customer-facing web experience, requiring comfort across the full stack.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, growing, and developing the team while setting technical direction
- Owning the product end-to-end alongside product and design partners, shaping how customisation feels to users
- Challenging what ships and identifying unglamorous but high-impact wins (e.g., helping users organize and trust large customisation sets)
- Ensuring customers actually adopt and use what the team builds, not just shipping features
- Reducing setup burden so administrators can configure customisation independently
- Partnering with research colleagues to bring adaptive, context-aware personalization from prototype to trusted product
- Safeguarding customer-owned assets (glossaries and translation memories) with proper scoping, portability, and security
- Cross-functional collaboration with research, product, design, platform, identity, and go-to-market teams
You should have a track record of working closely with product and design to define user experience, challenging briefs and talking teams into or out of building things. You've managed engineers on B2B customer-facing products and can articulate the customer impact of your leadership. You're technically solid enough to earn trust from experienced engineers and comfortable in design discussions. You've owned adoption or engagement problems and moved the needle. You prioritize ruthlessly and have experience working alongside research or applied science teams on jointly developed features.
