Salary: USD 200,000 - 285,000 / annual
Verkada is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Core Platform team, which builds the foundational platform and shared services enabling rapid IoT device deployment and powering Verkada's "operating system for buildings." The Core Platform team is responsible for architecting, designing, and developing a broad range of projects that support Verkada's integrated physical security and AI platform.
In this role, you will lead projects impacting Verkada's Command product, managing a team of both frontend and backend engineers. You'll be expected to actively contribute by writing code and prototyping new features alongside your team. Your responsibilities include inspiring the team to create highly polished and delightful user experiences, collaborating closely with Product and Design to ship features that delight users and customers, and working with other engineering leaders to define and execute on goals, priorities, and processes.
You'll drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies to ensure high-quality, maintainable code delivery. You'll stay current with emerging technologies and industry developments, evaluating their potential impact on web platforms and recommending innovative solutions. Additionally, you'll foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development, encouraging knowledge sharing, skill-building, and career growth opportunities within the engineering team.
Required qualifications include 4+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams (including hiring, retention, and performance management), 8+ years in software engineering roles, and hands-on experience with both backend and frontend technologies. You should have working knowledge of at least one server-side framework and one database system, experience in agile development environments, an eye for design and product details, and a degree in Computer Science or related engineering field.
