Salary: USD 230,000 - 250,000 / annual

Virta Health is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a talented engineering team focused on billing, accounting, member eligibility, and enrollment systems. You'll set technical direction across backend, frontend, data, and third-party integrations while balancing strategic technical investments with product delivery. In this role, you'll own complex, high-impact transactional systems and take responsibility for team hiring, mentoring, and development—including coaching other engineering managers or team leads. You'll work closely with product, data science, and operations to align on key initiatives, measure impact, and empower rapid iteration through experimentation. Key responsibilities include defining technical strategy and roadmaps, recruiting and retaining top engineering talent, maintaining code quality and system architecture, and driving cross-functional collaboration. You'll instill a culture of ownership and continuous improvement while balancing sustainable, long-term projects with quick shipping of user value. Required qualifications: 5+ years managing and providing technical leadership to engineering teams, with proven success hiring and developing other managers or leads. Deep technical expertise across backend, frontend, data, and third-party integrations—particularly with Python and/or Go. Experience owning complex transactional systems in billing, financial accounting, membership eligibility, or enrollment. Track record building diverse, inclusive, high-performing teams. Ability to thrive in cross-functional environments and drive projects to completion. Nice-to-have: Experience in HIPAA-compliant or similarly regulated environments (fintech, healthtech).
