As an Engineering Manager at Tide, you will lead and directly manage a cross-functional engineering team responsible for building and operating products that cover the full spectrum of SME needs—from banking and payments to administration and operational tooling. You'll partner closely with a Product Manager to form a Product Engineering Duo, making architectural decisions that shape Tide's platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and directly managing a cross-functional team
- Partnering with Product to drive product strategy and execution
- Owning team delivery: quality, stability, timelines, and dependencies
- Driving technical excellence and architecture within your domain
- Improving team performance using DORA metrics
- Supporting continuous growth and wellbeing of your engineers
- Remaining hands-on: balancing design, coding, and coaching
You'll work in domain-aligned, full-stack teams that own products end-to-end. Engineers self-organize and collaborate on technical challenges through Communities of Practice.
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years building server-side applications with deep Java expertise
- Strong knowledge of backend frameworks (Spring/Spring Boot)
- Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native architectures
- Proven ability to engineer scalable, reliable, secure solutions
- Experience with relational databases and third-party integrations
- Track record of leading and directly managing engineering teams
- Hands-on technical leadership with deep involvement in day-to-day work
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Agile development and CI/CD pipeline expertise
