As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team of 8–12 engineers building and owning products across Tide's platform—from banking and payments to administration and operational tooling. You'll partner with a Product Manager in a Product Engineering Duo model, making architectural decisions that shape Tide's technical direction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directly managing and developing a team of 8–12 engineers
- Owning team delivery: quality, stability, timelines, and dependencies
- Driving technical excellence and architecture within your domain
- Improving team performance using DORA metrics
- Supporting engineer growth and wellbeing
- Hands-on involvement in design, coding, and mentoring—you'll be a go-to resource for solving difficult technical problems
You'll work in domain-aligned, full-stack teams operating with self-organization and shared standards through Communities of Practice. The tech stack includes Python, Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, AWS (EKS, RDS, Aurora), Kafka, Docker, Terraform, ArgoCD, DataDog, GitHub, and modern frontend frameworks (Angular, Flutter).
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years building server-side applications with deep expertise in Python, Java, C#, or similar
- Strong backend framework knowledge (Spring/Spring Boot preferred)
- Microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native architecture experience
- Relational database expertise
- Proven track record directly managing engineering teams
- Hands-on technical leadership with involvement in day-to-day work
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with CI/CD, agile practices, and secure, well-tested software delivery
