Tide is a fintech platform serving over 2 million SMEs globally with business banking, payments, invoicing, and accounting solutions. The company operates across the UK, India, Germany, and France with technology centers in Serbia, Romania, Lithuania, and Bulgaria.
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional team of 8-12 engineers building and owning products that cover the full spectrum of Tide's offerings—from banking and payments to administration and operational tooling. You'll partner with a Product Manager to form a Product Engineering Duo, taking ownership of both what gets built and how it's built.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directly managing and developing a team of 8-12 engineers
- Owning team delivery: quality, stability, timelines, and dependencies
- Driving technical excellence and architecture decisions within your domain
- Improving team performance using DORA metrics
- Supporting continuous growth and wellbeing of your engineers
- Remaining hands-on: balancing design, coding, and coaching while being a go-to resource for difficult technical problems
You'll work in domain-aligned, full-stack teams that self-organize and collaborate through Communities of Practice. The tech stack includes Python, Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Terraform, ArgoCD, EKS, Kafka, SNS/SQS, DataDog, and GitHub.
Required qualifications: 10+ years building server-side applications with deep knowledge of Python, Java, C#, or similar languages; experience with backend frameworks (Spring/Spring Boot), microservices, RESTful APIs, cloud-native environments, relational databases, and agile practices. You must have direct people management experience and be a technical hands-on leader comfortable communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
