Sportradar is a NASDAQ-listed sports-tech company serving 1,700+ sports federations, media outlets, betting operators, and consumer platforms across 120 countries. The Live Data unit develops and distributes real-time sports data across 30+ sports disciplines. Scout Admin is the core administrative platform enabling scouts worldwide to register, prepare, and manage coverage of live sporting events.
As Engineering Manager for Scout Admin, you will lead a team of software engineers with varying expertise levels, potentially managing other managers. You'll be responsible for nurturing a culture of collaboration and coordination, leveraging your background as an individual contributor to guide technology and product decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing talented engineers across different expertise levels, with focus on domain and technology stack
- Collaborating with product managers, cross-functional leaders, and engineers to build best-in-class products
- Dedicating a portion of your time to hands-on design and development work
- Coaching engineers on professional growth (skills, problem-solving) and personal development through regular feedback
- Creating short-term (quarterly) and mid-term (yearly) plans aligned with unit strategy and vision
- Owning team member growth and satisfaction
- Ensuring team efficiency and high-quality outcomes through tech excellence, tech debt management, and continuous process improvement
- Supporting long-term career development and strategic thinking for team members
- Communicating across Product, Analytics, DevOps, Security, and Design teams
- Leading prioritization efforts and mentoring others
- Understanding business impact and helping engineers see how their work drives customer value
- Staying current with new technologies and trends, and their application to current and future products
- Gaining deep expertise in real-time sports data collection workflows and processes worldwide
- Contributing to architectural decisions and long-term system design
- Remaining hands-on with code while supporting pair programming and knowledge sharing
The role is fully office-based in Warsaw, with emphasis on in-person collaboration, knowledge sharing, fast decision-making, and team connection.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Effective and clear communication skills in all circumstances
- Proven people management and technical leadership experience
- Passion for building great products through collaboration and ingenuity
- Extensive hands-on software development experience with robust, complex systems serving high-volume users
- Strong appreciation for good engineering practices and quality-focused work
- Ability to set goals, monitor progress, and influence across organizational layers
- Practical application of operational agility
- Team collaboration and championship mindset
- Track record of successful competence development and helping people grow
- Thorough understanding of SDLC and software development frameworks
- Experience with AWS, Java/Kotlin, GitLab, SQL, and Kubernetes
- Nice to have: PHP and JavaScript experience
Recruiting process includes initial screening, take-home coding assignment, technical interview (120 min), system design task with whiteboard exercises, cultural fit interview (45 min), and leadership capabilities interview (60 min).
