Spendesk is an AI-powered spend management and procurement platform serving thousands of companies across Europe. As Engineering Manager for Travel & Expense, you will lead a squad of approximately 10 software engineers building and improving Spendesk's travel booking, expense management, and spend connectivity features.
You will own the Travel & Expense roadmap in partnership with the Product Manager, Product Designer, and Technical Leader, planning quarterly objectives executed in 2-week sprints. Your responsibilities include leading, mentoring, and developing your engineering team through feedback, performance management, progression, recruitment, and onboarding. You will set clear objectives and KPIs across trips, hotel booking, travel approvals, expense claims, mileage, per diems, reimbursement, and compliance workflows.
On the technical side, you will guide architecture decisions and integrations across travel suppliers, payment systems, invoices, accounting, identity, and security services. You will maintain high standards for code quality, testing, security, observability, SLOs, and incident response. The team participates in production ownership, quality assurance, and continuous improvement, working in short iterations guided by customer and product data.
The Travel & Expense product area focuses on two connected needs: helping employees manage business travel (trips, hotel booking, budgets, approvals, policies) and helping them submit and receive reimbursement for out-of-pocket spend. You will also participate in the migration of the platform to a service-based architecture using hexagonal patterns.
