As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and mentor a diverse engineering team while driving technical strategy and execution. You'll build high-performing teams, deliver innovative solutions, and ensure engineering excellence as the platform scales. Your responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and accountability aligned with Notable's mission to impact 100 million patients.
- Collaborating with product, design, and business stakeholders to align engineering goals with organizational objectives and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
- Implementing and managing engineering metrics (team velocity, code quality, deployment success) to continuously improve team performance.
- Establishing and promoting best practices in software development, code reviews, testing, CI/CD methodologies, and deployment processes.
- Building a talent pipeline through hiring, onboarding, and mentoring engineers who align with the mission and supporting their professional growth.
- Engaging with complex technical challenges, breaking them into manageable components, and collaborating across teams to develop robust, scalable solutions.
- Fostering collaboration by seeking feedback from team members and stakeholders, using insights to drive improvement and innovation.
Notable values in-person collaboration. For Bay Area-based employees, this role requires being in the San Mateo office at least three days per week. Remote employees should expect occasional travel to headquarters for company-wide events and onsite gatherings.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in software development, architecture, or related fields
- 3+ years of leadership or management experience in an engineering setting
- Strong problem-solving abilities with excellent coding and debugging skills across multiple programming languages
- Deep understanding of modern web application development, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies
- Proven track record of managing engineering metrics, including team velocity, delivery commitments, and code quality
- Experience writing maintainable, well-tested, and reliable code with strong focus on engineering best practices
- Passion for supporting product and design teams in developing comprehensive roadmaps and achieving organizational goals
- Demonstrated success building and maintaining high-performing teams in fast-paced, collaborative environments
- Proactive and innovative mindset with ability to inspire and drive change
