Salary: USD 230,000 - 250,000 / annual
Coast is building the financial infrastructure powering America's fleets—a payments and expense management platform serving 500,000 fleets and 40 million vehicles. Founded in 2020, the company has established itself as the platform of choice for fleet owners and operators seeking control, visibility, and trust over business spending.
You will lead a team of engineers focused on increasing fleet adoption on the Coast platform. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll set technical direction, coach engineers through their real work, lead by example, and help shape a fast-growing engineering organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own delivery for your team: keep engineers unblocked, motivated, and focused on work that drives Coast forward
- Partner with Product and Design to drive measurable business outcomes by defining and shipping best-in-class fuel and fleet spend user experience and public APIs
- Provide technical leadership by engaging with architecture, implementation, and engineering fundamentals
- Coach and develop engineers through close attention to their actual work
- Build AI fluency across your team, modeling its use in your own workflow and identifying where AI features can create product leverage for customers
- Build a healthy, high-performing, inclusive team culture and hire in a manner that perpetuates excellence
Success in 6 months means your team ships predictably against roadmap commitments, business metrics track at or above projections, you've re-engineered how software gets built to integrate AI into the operating model, there is high trust and clarity within your team and amongst stakeholders, and you've grown at least one engineer into a tech lead role.
Coast is an in-person company based in New York City with flexibility to work from home approximately one day per week. The company believes great products are built by people collaborating closely, moving fast, and pushing each other to raise the bar.
