Aerem is building India's end-to-end platform for distributed solar, integrating financing, commerce, installer operations, monitoring, and customer experiences into a unified technology platform. As Engineering Manager, you will drive the company's tech vision and architecture direction while leading high-velocity execution across select product verticals.
You will own engineering execution across select products and platforms, building and mentoring high-performing engineering teams from the ground up. Responsibilities include sprint planning, delivery, release management, and engineering metrics; partnering closely with Product, Design, and Business teams to translate priorities into scalable technology solutions; and driving architecture decisions that ensure scalability, maintainability, and long-term platform evolution. You'll own the reliability, performance, and availability of platforms managed by your team, continuously improving system architecture, engineering processes, and operational excellence to support business growth.
You'll hire exceptional engineers and build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement. The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals with solid system design knowledge, hands-on experience building and scaling modern web applications and APIs, and an AI-native development mindset. You should be comfortable with the company's tech stack (React, React Native, Node.js, Java, Python, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS) and have strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, databases, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices.
You'll balance hands-on technical contributions with people leadership, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and making pragmatic technical decisions. The ideal candidate has 6–9 years of software engineering experience with 2+ years managing engineering teams, proven track record delivering software products in startup or high-growth environments, and strong experience hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, product thinking, high ownership, bias for action, and pragmatic problem-solving are essential.
