Vanta is a Series D trust management platform helping businesses earn and prove security compliance continuously. The App Primitives team owns shared infrastructure—comments, notifications, event logs, feature flags, and task management—that every product team at Vanta depends on.
As Engineering Manager, App Primitives, you will lead and grow a high-performing team building the foundational systems that enable collaboration and core workflows across Vanta's platform. You'll own hiring, team development, and delivery while setting technical direction for a full-stack team spanning data models, backend services, and UI primitives.
Key responsibilities include: leading the App Primitives team with authority over hiring and senior engineer development; owning the strategy and roadmap for shared product primitives; defining the interface model between App Primitives systems and product teams to ensure safe, fast iteration; partnering with product engineering leaders to surface developer needs and prioritize velocity-unlocking investments; setting technical direction and earning trust through strong technical judgment; and managing cross-team dependencies with high autonomy.
You'll need 5+ years of engineering experience with 2+ years managing engineering teams, including a track record of developing senior engineers and technical leads. Experience leading platform, shared services, or product infrastructure teams is essential. You should have technical fluency across the full stack with depth in backend systems, shared data models, and API design. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, a track record of hiring senior engineers in competitive markets, and experience managing multi-team dependencies are critical. The role expects you to use AI in day-to-day work to amplify skills and strengthen outcomes.
