You will join the AI Intake team, which focuses on leveraging AI to automate document ingestion and data extraction. This eliminates manual entry, accelerates the qualification process, and delivers faster, more reliable home medical equipment order turnarounds. As Engineering Manager, you will grow and coach up to 5 engineers while contributing code yourself. This is a practicing manager role where you balance people leadership with hands-on technical work. Key Responsibilities: - Coach and mentor up to 5 engineers on career growth, technical development, and day-to-day support - Own your team's goals, roadmap execution, and proactively remove blockers - Review Architecture Decision Documents, conduct pre-launch risk assessments, and ensure systems align with company goals - Lead early technical discovery, feasibility analysis, and capacity estimation for future projects - Stay close to the code through PR reviews, design discussions, and incident retrospectives - Allocate 10-20% of your time to targeted technical work, prioritizing pairing and focused tickets - Guide engineering practices using agile methods, TDD, and robust software design principles - Serve as primary point of contact for your team, managing stakeholder communication with Product, Design, leadership, and cross-functional partners Requirements: - 5+ years of professional programming experience with open source languages in production environments - 2+ years of management experience - Must reside in the U.S. Nice to Have: - Professional experience with Ruby on Rails - Professional experience with React or TypeScript
