You will manage a team of 10 engineers (6 onshore, 4 nearshore) building the LOS/CRM platform behind Caribou's refinance process. This team represents more than a third of the product engineering organization, and you'll report directly to the CTO as one of six engineering leaders.
The strategic mandate is to build agentic orchestration to automate repetitive, high-volume steps in the refinance process, freeing your team to focus on applications requiring human judgment. The team currently operates a Ruby on Rails monolith and a Python monorepo for Google ADK Agents. You'll guide the team's adoption of agentic engineering practices using Claude Code across all repositories, targeting top-quintile productivity.
Key responsibilities include hiring and coaching ten engineers; reading designs and weighing technical trade-offs with senior engineers; maintaining codebase health and making the case for tech debt paydown; growing the team's agentic engineering capability through mentoring and pairing; leading production health (on-call, monitoring, incident response); guiding secure SDLC practices including vulnerability patching and threat modeling for agentic surfaces; ensuring compliance with SOC 2 and GLBA for origination workflows; and partnering with Product, Design, Security, and Data teams.
You won't ship features yourself but will deeply understand how systems work. Within one year, agentic orchestration should handle the full range of routine refinance steps, with your team focused on exceptions and edge cases. Your management and architecture skills will sharpen as scope grows.
The role offers flexibility: candidates can work remotely from AZ, CO, DC, IL, MD, TX, VA (with preference for Chicago, Denver, or Phoenix), or hybrid/in-office from Denver or Chandler offices.
