Salary: CAD 207,000 - 253,000 / annual
Relay is a digital banking platform designed for self-made business owners, providing clarity and control over cash flow and financial operations. The company replaces financial guesswork with real visibility, helping small business owners run stronger, more resilient businesses.
You'll lead the Accounts team, which owns Relay's multi-account structure—the core differentiator that allows every dollar a business earns to get assigned a purpose. In this role, you'll drive the technical vision for making this structure intelligent and adaptive, recommending the right accounts and automated transfer rules based on how a business actually operates, and evolving them as the business scales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivery Leadership: Plan and deliver engineering initiatives that meet quality standards, timelines, and business goals; drive clarity in priorities and execution across the team.
- Team Operations: Establish effective engineering processes including sprint planning, code reviews, and technical design reviews; continuously refine team rituals for predictable, high-quality delivery.
- Technical Strategy: Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute the technical vision, ensuring alignment with company goals and customer needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with user needs and business objectives.
- People Management & Development: Build and grow a high-performing engineering team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
- Culture & Growth: Foster a collaborative, feedback-driven environment that supports continuous learning, mentorship, and professional development.
You bring 5+ years of full-stack software development experience (ideally in high-growth B2B SaaS or fintech) plus 1-3 years in a people management role. You have a strong technical foundation with a proven track record of shipping high-quality products. Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React, and AWS is valued. You're passionate about building and scaling engineering teams, communicate clearly, and bring calm and clarity in ambiguity. You're a pragmatic decision-maker with a customer-centric mindset, comfortable navigating tradeoffs around scope, technical debt, and timelines. You thrive in cross-functional environments, connecting dots and driving initiatives that deliver meaningful impact.
