Okta is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Client Foundations team within the Access Essentials group. This team is responsible for building libraries, tooling, security infrastructure, and platform support for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. The role combines people management with technical leadership in a high-impact area that processes billions of authentications monthly.
You will manage a team of software engineers who are domain experts in individual device platforms. Key responsibilities include: managing team goals and performance; contributing to product strategy and technical direction; providing technical leadership to ensure scalable, maintainable systems with high quality standards; organizing and delivering key projects with business impact; and building a long-term team through recruitment, talent development, career management, and coaching.
The role requires balancing new feature development with maintenance of existing systems, cross-functional collaboration with product and other teams, stakeholder management including alignment and prioritization, and delivering outcomes under constraints and tight deadlines.
Required qualifications: 3+ years managing engineering teams; 10-15 years of development experience with at least 4 years as a macOS, iOS, or Android engineer; strong experience in SDLC, testing automation, release orchestration, CI/CD platforms, and feature flags; demonstrable knowledge of secure web development, fault-tolerant systems, and cloud technologies; and proven stakeholder management skills.
