The Access Control team develops software that securely manages millions of door events daily, connecting cloud services, mobile apps, web applications, and edge hardware into a seamless customer experience. You will lead a team of frontend and backend software engineers, responsible for mentoring and growing engineers through coaching, feedback, and career development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a team of frontend and backend engineers
- Owning delivery of major customer-facing initiatives from concept through production
- Partnering with Product Management, Design, Firmware, and Mobile teams to define roadmaps
- Driving technical direction while empowering engineers to make architectural decisions
- Fostering engineering excellence through code reviews, design discussions, and testing
- Building highly reliable, observable, and scalable distributed systems handling millions of real-time events
- Improving engineering processes and team health while maintaining quality standards
- Participating in hiring and building an exceptional engineering organization
Required qualifications: 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant expertise in Python, Go, or React; 1+ years managing software engineers; production experience across frontend and backend systems; strong software architecture and system design skills; experience designing and operating distributed systems; ability to lead large cross-functional technical projects; excellent communication skills; proven ability to attract, hire, mentor, and retain engineers; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
