OpusClip is hiring an Engineering Lead to lead the Burnaby office as the senior-most engineering authority on-site. You'll manage a ~10-person engineering team spanning growth engineering, B2B/enterprise delivery, DevOps/SRE, data engineering, and production-critical systems (authentication, billing, PII). This is a player-coach role requiring hands-on technical depth alongside people leadership.
Key responsibilities include: leading the office in person and setting operating cadence and standards; building a high-performance culture by identifying and elevating top performers while making tough talent decisions; championing an AI-native engineering culture where AI agents are integrated into daily workflows; owning delivery across growth, pricing, experimentation, conversion, monetization, and data systems; holding influence over dotted-line reports (Platform/SRE, security, B2B engineering) without direct authority; and partnering globally with teams in Mountain View, Shanghai, and Chengdu.
You'll stay close to architecture and code—senior engineers should value your technical opinion, not just your approval. You'll own metrics that founders track weekly: conversion, pricing, revenue, reliability. The role demands in-person leadership every day, direct feedback capability, comfort with rapid iteration and ambiguity, and end-to-end ownership of reliability and security outcomes.
Ideal candidates have a few years managing engineers with something to prove, have turned a team around with specific examples, have executed both sides of talent density (coaching out and elevating), can lose architecture debates on merit, and have owned founder-tracked metrics. This is not a coordination role—it's hands-on leadership with real technical and people accountability.
