Flock is an AI-first insurance technology company transforming fleet insurance through real-time, data-driven risk assessment and pricing. With over £50M raised and partnerships with major operators like Amazon, DPD, Uber, and Bolt, Flock is building the leading insurance platform for connected and autonomous vehicles. As Engineering Lead for the Acquisition team, you'll own technical delivery and direction for the product team responsible for driving Flock's growth. Working closely with the Product Manager, you'll lead without direct line management—instead providing technical coaching, mentorship, and leadership through code quality, design discussions, and pairing. Key responsibilities include: • Own delivery, operational reliability, and developer experience for the Acquisition team, shipping high-quality TypeScript to production while mentoring engineers around you • Partner with product leadership to translate business goals into clear technical scope, success metrics, and delivery plans • Lead by example through code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on pairing; coach engineers to raise standards and share ownership of technical direction • Drive improvements to developer experience, CI/CD, observability, and release practices that accelerate the whole team • Shape how the team adopts AI tools and coding agents—from development assistants to agent workflows in review and release—while maintaining engineering judgment where it matters • Make pragmatic trade-offs balancing reliability, performance, and cost across AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch) • Work with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CDK to provision and manage cloud resources You'll be joining a team that values curiosity, technical excellence, and pragmatism. The role offers the opportunity to shape both what the team builds and how it works, directly impacting Flock's growth trajectory in a rapidly evolving insurance market.
