Having raised over £50M, they now insure hundreds of fleets across the UK including Amazon, DPD, Uber, and Bolt, with a mission to become the leading insurance provider for connected and autonomous vehicles.
As Engineering Lead for the Acquisition team, you'll own technical delivery and direction for the team building products that directly drive Flock's growth. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll ship production TypeScript code while providing technical coaching and mentorship—not line management. You'll work closely with the Product Manager as co-leaders, jointly owning delivery, quality, and outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own delivery and technical quality for the Acquisition team, shipping features that directly impact how fleets discover and choose Flock
- Write high-quality, well-tested TypeScript and own end-to-end production delivery
- Lead by example through code, design discussions, and pair programming
- Coach and mentor engineers to raise standards and shape technical direction
- Drive improvements to developer experience, CI/CD, observability, and release practices
- Make pragmatic trade-offs balancing reliability, performance, and cost across AWS services
- Shape how the team adopts AI tools and coding agents to ship faster without compromising quality
You'll work with API-driven development, serverless infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch), and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CDK. Success is measured by the output, quality, and growth of your entire team, not just your individual contribution.
Essential qualifications: proven ability to co-lead alongside a PM with joint ownership of delivery; strong hands-on TypeScript engineering; significant AWS and modern serverless experience; pragmatic approach to technical decisions; track record of raising engineering standards through code reviews and mentorship; strong communication skills; experience improving developer experience and delivery cadence; confident daily use of AI development tools.
