Fluidstack is building civilization-scale compute infrastructure for AI, focused on deploying 10-100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else. The company rethinks every layer of the stack, acquiring power, designing and building data centers, and operating them with teams spanning hardware and software.
The R&D organization designs next-generation data center products including modular builds, new cooling and power architectures, and the lab-to-field pipeline that turns prototypes into deployable capacity at gigawatt scale. The team spans mechanical, electrical, controls, and compute engineering, working with manufacturing and supply chain.
In this role, you will serve as the right hand to the Head of Development Engineering, working side by side to take their highest-priority problems off their plate and drive each to a decision or delivered result. You will drive cross-organizational initiatives from first scoping to completion, doing whatever the work requires—from analysis and vendor calls to schedules and follow-up. You'll coordinate across every engineering team, working directly with each team leader to align projects, pilots, and R&D efforts so priorities, owners, and dates stay clear.
You will shape technical direction by building first-order analysis that leadership needs to set the company's technical direction, then carry those decisions back into the teams executing them. You'll own the R&D leadership cadence, including agendas, decisions, action items, and status reports that clearly identify what is slipping and what it takes to recover.
Key problems the team is solving include running multiple first-of-a-kind power and cooling pilots simultaneously without stalling, keeping every engineering team aligned as product and company priorities shift, and getting data in front of leadership fast enough to make technical bets with confidence.
The company culture emphasizes full autonomy ("be a barrel"), insane urgency, first-principles reasoning, and building something that matters. You'll work in an environment with long hours at high intensity.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3-7 years of experience in engineering, technical program management, consulting, or operations, ideally around hardware, energy, or infrastructure
- An engineering or technical degree, or equivalent hands-on technical depth
- Comfort in engineering conversations and ability to build your own first-pass models and analysis
- Clear writing and ability to keep senior people informed without being chased
- Willingness to take on any task the team needs, learn new domains fast, and be open about knowledge gaps
- Low ego, self-directed approach; ability to manage your own work, manage upward, and keep things moving without being asked
- Bonus: startup experience, first-of-a-kind project exposure, or familiarity with power, cooling, or data center systems
