As Engineering Director for the Payments Platform, you will lead the teams building and operating critical payment infrastructure that handles payment acceptance, processing, routing, settlement, reconciliation, and partner integrations across global markets. This role combines people leadership, technical strategy, and delivery ownership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and execute the end-to-end Payments Platform vision, strategy, architecture, and roadmap ensuring reliable scaling across global markets
- Lead and develop Engineering Managers and senior technical talent across multiple squads, building a culture of ownership and technical excellence
- Provide architectural direction for high-volume, mission-critical payment systems, setting standards for reliability, observability, security, scalability, and developer productivity
- Set clear OKRs, manage execution across concurrent initiatives, and drive high-quality outcomes while balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform investments
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Commercial, Risk, Compliance, and regional leaders to align technology with business outcomes and regulatory requirements
You bring 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in engineering leadership, including managing Engineering Managers or Leads. You have deep technical fluency in software architecture and distributed systems design, strong product thinking, and proven success in fast-paced, high-growth environments. Experience in fintech, financial services, payments, or regulated industries where correctness and data integrity are critical is essential. You're a builder with founder-like energy, humble and collaborative, who moves fast with good judgment and makes decisions from first principles.
