As Engineering Director for the Payments Platform, you will lead multiple engineering teams responsible for critical payment infrastructure components. This role combines people leadership, technical strategy, and delivery ownership across a platform that processes payments, routing, settlement, reconciliation, and partner integrations at global scale.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and execute the Payments Platform vision, owning end-to-end strategy, architecture, and roadmap across payment processing, routing, settlement, and reconciliation
- Lead and develop Engineering Managers and senior technical talent across multiple squads, building a culture of ownership and technical excellence
- Provide architectural direction for high-volume, mission-critical payment systems, setting standards for reliability, observability, security, and scalability
- Set clear OKRs, manage execution across concurrent initiatives, and balance short-term delivery with long-term platform investments
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Commercial, Risk, Compliance, and regional leaders to align technology with business outcomes
You bring 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles, including managing Engineering Managers. You have deep technical fluency in distributed systems architecture, strong product thinking, and proven success in fast-paced, high-growth environments. Experience in fintech, payments, or regulated financial services is essential. The Payments Platform team tackles complex infrastructure challenges where small improvements materially impact customer experience and conversion, requiring thoughtful, pragmatic engineers motivated by making complex problems simple.
