As Engineering Director for the Payments Platform, you will lead the teams responsible for building and operating critical payment infrastructure. The Payments Platform transforms global payment complexity into reliable, scalable infrastructure that helps businesses accept and move money seamlessly across markets. This role combines people leadership, technical direction, and delivery ownership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define and execute the end-to-end strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Payments Platform, covering payment processing, routing, settlement, reconciliation, and partner integrations across global markets
- Lead and develop Engineering Managers and senior technical talent across multiple squads, building a culture of ownership and technical excellence
- Provide architectural direction for high-volume, mission-critical payment systems, setting standards for reliability, observability, security, scalability, and developer productivity
- Set clear OKRs, manage execution across concurrent initiatives, and drive high-quality outcomes while balancing short-term delivery with long-term platform investments
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, Commercial, Risk, Compliance, and regional engineering leaders to align technology with business outcomes and regulatory requirements
You bring 10+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in engineering leadership roles, including managing Engineering Managers. You have deep technical fluency in software architecture and distributed systems design, strong product thinking, and proven success in fast-paced, high-growth fintech or regulated environments where correctness and data integrity are critical. You're a builder with founder-like energy, humble and collaborative, who moves fast with good judgment and gets things done end-to-end.
