Adyen is seeking an Engineering Director to lead the Developer Platform organization and shape the global developer experience for one of the world's leading fintech platforms. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee a multi-disciplinary team of 40+ engineers and define the vision for Adyen's developer experience domain, ensuring alignment with company goals and the needs of thousands of developers integrating with Adyen's APIs and SDKs. You will be responsible for maintaining high-quality standards across all integration-related products, establishing best practices for engineering quality, scalability, and performance. Your focus will be on identifying and eliminating friction points in the developer journey—whether in APIs, SDKs, documentation, webhooks, API quality, developer monitoring, or tooling. You will drive adoption of common principles and taxonomy to streamline integration processes and improve API consistency across the platform. As a visionary leader, you will mentor and grow a diverse, high-performing team across subdomains including webhooks, API quality, integration SDKs, developer relations, and developer monitoring. You will empower team members through clear expectations and growth opportunities while fostering an inclusive culture. Beyond internal leadership, you will be the evangelist for Adyen's developer community, speaking at conferences, writing thought leadership articles, and engaging directly with developers to understand their needs. This role requires someone with 7+ years of technical experience, including significant hands-on software engineering background, plus 3+ years in manager-of-managers roles while maintaining deep technical literacy. You should have proven experience leading engineering organizations of 40+ people, ideally with a background in developer-facing products, APIs, or integrations. A strong public presence and track record of thought leadership in the developer community is essential. You are customer-centric, focused on delivering measurable outcomes, and passionate about making integration with Adyen not just easy, but genuinely superior.
