You will join as Engineering Director, reporting directly to the CTO (Dhruv Kumar, who previously scaled engineering at Hopin, Charlotte Tilbury, and THG). This is a manager-of-managers role leading 25-50 engineers across multiple teams and Engineering Managers/Team Leads. Key responsibilities include: **Build and Lead the Leaders:** Hire, coach, and develop Engineering Managers and Team Leads. Set and hold a high performance bar, own org design for your area, build the bench of next-generation engineering leaders, and own the headcount plan for your group. **Own Delivery at Group Scale:** Be accountable for outcomes across several teams simultaneously. Create the operating rhythm (planning, prioritization, reporting) that keeps a multi-team group moving quickly. Unblock cross-team dependencies, ambiguous ownership, and architectural decisions. Ensure robust monitoring, observability, and incident response. **Shape Technical and Product Strategy:** Partner with the CTO and Product leadership to define and execute the technical roadmap for your domain. Make build/buy, architecture, and technical investment decisions. Balance technical debt, feature development, and reliability. Ensure customer feedback drives technical priorities, including direct time with enterprise customers. Potential areas include: Accounting and Goods Receipting, Insights and Reporting, Sourcing, Workflow Orchestration, and other expanding areas. The company works Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in-person at London offices. Omnea emphasizes a commercial, ambitious culture and offers competitive geo-localized benefits, including an employee Future Founders fund. **Requirements:** - 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in engineering leadership - 2+ years managing managers (hiring, coaching, performance-managing Engineering Managers or Team Leads) - Led a group of 25-50 engineers across multiple teams and owned org design - Demonstrated success in fast-moving, ambiguous environments, particularly during rapid-growth periods - Ideally experience at more than one company, including at least one successful Series A+ B2B SaaS company - Strong technical background with hands-on experience in modern web technologies - Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud architecture (preferably AWS), and scalability challenges - Strong track record of delivering complex, multi-team programs that moved company outcomes (product adoption, revenue, customer retention) - Proven history of improving team velocity and quality at group level - Experience scaling an engineering organization through rapid growth and adapting structure - Experience implementing engineering processes that scale effectively at pace - Experience working directly with enterprise customers and translating needs into technical solutions - Data-driven decision-making with comfort making decisions with incomplete information - Excellence at influence without authority across Product, Design, GTM, and exec team - Track record of growing and developing engineering leaders at all levels (Senior, Staff, Principal) - Ability to stay close to technology to be credible with senior engineers without taking work off them **Nice to haves:** - Track record of successful product launches in B2B SaaS - Experience with procurement/finance systems - History of contributions to engineering communities - Experience with TypeScript, React, AWS Serverless (stack preference, not required)
