You will lead the Singapore engineering team building brokerage and platform services for New Markets expansion in the region. This is a hybrid technical and people leadership role combining Staff-level technical depth with hands-on team management.
Technical responsibilities include architecting and shipping scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems using gRPC microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and vendor integrations. You will advance the core platform for multi-region, multi-currency, and regulatory contexts globally, and own API quality, performance, and operational readiness for regional workloads.
Leadership responsibilities involve leading, coaching, and developing engineers in Singapore; setting clarity on priorities, quality standards, and career growth paths. You will partner with recruiting on regional hiring and interviews, facilitate knowledge sharing and engineering culture across Alpaca, and act as a senior escalation point for incidents affecting regional stacks. You will improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response, and participate in on-call coverage as appropriate for the team's model.
The role emphasizes day-to-day leadership of the Singapore team while maintaining deep technical involvement in architecture decisions and platform reliability. You will represent engineering for Singapore stakeholders and support regional expansion efforts.
