Encoded Therapeutics is a clinical-stage genetic medicines company developing disease-modifying therapies for severe CNS disorders using proprietary AAV vector engineering. The company's flagship program, ETX101, targets Dravet syndrome by selectively upregulating SCN1A, with a pipeline addressing both monogenic and prevalent CNS conditions. The Process Sciences Engineer will work at the intersection of genomics and therapeutics, supporting the development and manufacturing of AAV-based therapies. Key responsibilities include designing, executing, and analyzing small-scale studies that support at-scale product development and pipeline advancement. The role encompasses pre-clinical and clinical manufacturing responsibilities across the full manufacturing spectrum: upstream (cell culture, bioreactors), downstream (harvest, clarification), fill-finish, and drug-device integration. A critical component of this position is facilitating technology transfer of manufacturing processes to both internal and external GMP and non-GMP manufacturing sites. This includes developing tools and templates to support tech transfer business processes and providing on-site support at manufacturing facilities as needed. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth scale-up and compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate holds a B.S. or M.S. in biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, biological sciences, virology, molecular biology, or biochemistry, with at least 3 years of industry experience. At least 1 year in an MSAT/PD/Process Sciences role is preferred. Essential qualifications include extensive knowledge of modern laboratory procedures and cGMP compliance, with demonstrated ability to independently design and execute small-scale cell culture studies including cell expansion, single-use bioreactor operations, and harvest/clarification workflows. Experience with gene therapy manufacturing processes is strongly preferred. The role demands strong technical troubleshooting skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while meeting aggressive project timelines.
