MaintainX, now part of Autodesk Operations Solutions, is a mobile-first work execution platform serving 13,000+ customers including Duracell, McDonald's, Shell, DHL, and Volvo. The platform manages 13.9 million assets and 79.5 million completed work orders, helping industrial and frontline teams cut unplanned downtime and optimize operations. You will lead one of several engineering teams (5-6 developers) across product or platform areas. On the product side, teams include Asset Lifecycle and Reporting—the systems behind work orders, assets, and scheduling that customers interact with daily. On the platform side, teams include Search and IAM—shared services and infrastructure that product teams build upon. Key responsibilities: - Manage 5-6 developers: own their delivery, quality, and day-to-day priorities. - Partner with Product Managers and Designers to scope, plan, and deliver against high reliability standards. - Coach and develop your engineers: build their skills, help them solve hard problems, and support their career growth. - Set clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback so your team knows where it stands. - Champion CI/CD, code quality, and observability practices across your team's systems. - Give senior leadership visibility into your team's impact, progress, and risk. Autodesk's strategy is to converge design, make, and operate into one continuous lifecycle. MaintainX owns the "operate" phase—the systems that tell you what actually happened when assets run in the field, feeding insights back into the next design cycle. Team placement is based on your background, interview performance (technical screen plus team-fit conversation), and current openings. You can express preferences to your recruiter early in the process. The company prefers teams to be located around office hubs in Canada (Montreal and Toronto) or the US, with no strict minimum in-office mandate. REQUIREMENTS: - 4+ years of software development management experience with a track record of leading teams that ship. - Strong technical foundation: system design, computer science fundamentals, modern web technologies. - Experience with technical design, problem-solving, and project management (Jira experience preferred). - Genuine interest in hiring, coaching, and developing engineers, not just directing them. - Comfort partnering with Recruiting and other managers to hire and scale the organization. - Excellent communication: ability to navigate tradeoff conversations with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
