FIS is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to lead the System Automation (SA) for z/OS team, responsible for mainframe automation packages and system health monitoring across multiple physical locations with 20+ sysplexes and 65+ LPARs. This is a senior individual contributor role with mentoring responsibilities—you will guide less experienced team members, provide technical leadership, and serve as backup to the manager, but do not directly manage a team.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing automated solutions using System Automation, NetView, REXX, PIPE, and Assembler code; performing SA and NetView upgrades; developing and maintaining Omegamon monitoring situations; standardizing automation across multiple sites following best practices; providing on-call and weekend support for critical changes; and conducting knowledge transfer and training to colleagues across FIS teams globally.
You will collaborate with IBM support to debug and improve automation software, integrate SA with Omegamon, convert from legacy automation tools, and document team procedures and help panels. The role requires deep expertise in SA for z/OS configuration and administration, with 8–10 years of relevant experience. Omegamon and OPSMVS experience are desirable; ISPF dialog experience is a plus.
