CrowdStrike's Advanced Research team is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop innovative detection capabilities that keep the company ahead of adversaries and stop breaches. You'll work within a multidisciplinary team collaborating with Security, Data Science, Engineering, and Visualization experts to solve long-standing challenges in cybersecurity. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance distributed cloud services using industry-leading technologies including Kafka, Flink, Redis, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, and LLMs. You'll keep services healthy and running in production, work closely with internal engineering teams to integrate new capabilities into the Falcon platform, and have opportunities for creativity, learning, mentoring fellow engineers, and building technologies that meaningfully improve customer protection. Required qualifications include a Computer Science degree or equivalent experience, programming expertise in at least one language (Java/Scala, Go, or Python preferred), and solid understanding of distributed systems, scalability, RESTful patterns, and multithreading. You should have hands-on experience building and scaling services in production, proficiency with CI/CD tools (Jenkins/Bamboo), experience with major cloud provider APIs (AWS, GCP, Azure), and proven ability to utilize AI technologies to enhance decision-making and drive business outcomes. Bonus qualifications include familiarity with AWS, Kafka, Flink, and Grafana; experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes); strong debugging skills; and hands-on experience in large-scale distributed system architecture, high scalability and availability optimization, or cybersecurity/intelligence fields. This is a remote-first, distributed role where you manage your own time. United States Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required to retain access to resources. The role requires periodic background and fingerprint checks consistent with government customer requirements.
