Salary: USD 158,000 - 198,000 / annual
Xero is seeking a full-stack engineer to join its US West Coast team working on the newly launched US payroll solution. You will take end-to-end product ownership across the development lifecycle, making key architectural decisions and refining features based on user feedback. The role involves building on a modern, clean technical stack with minimal legacy debt.
You will work with TypeScript, React, C#, and PostgreSQL, leveraging Temporal for workflow orchestration. The team integrates AI tools into daily development workflows to enhance productivity. You'll participate in preparing systems for scale through automated delivery pipelines, resilient design patterns, and high-performing APIs.
The team operates with a flat structure and fluid practices, allowing you to transition between front-end and back-end focus without silos. You'll collaborate seamlessly with counterparts in Australia and New Zealand, with intentional boost days for in-person team connection. Key responsibilities include iterating on the payroll beta product using live feedback, developing with modern practices including test-driven development and trunk-based delivery, debugging across the full stack, responding to production incidents, and mentoring teammates with an empathetic approach.
Required experience: full-stack development with TypeScript, React, C#, or relational databases like PostgreSQL; end-to-end product feature ownership; complex workflow architecture management; practical familiarity with AI tools for engineering workflows; strong debugging skills across the stack; and a commitment to technical craft and inclusive engineering culture.
