Pronto AI is a global leader in autonomous vehicle technology, deploying Autonomous Haulage Systems (AHS) that automate operations in mines, quarries, and construction sites worldwide. Unlike much of the industry still in R&D, Pronto delivers production-ready autonomous solutions already operating in real-world field environments.
This mechanical engineering role is based in the Pronto office in Vila da Serra (Nova Lima, MG) with frequent travel (up to 30%) to customer sites and mines in Brazil and internationally. Work involves both office-based design and field installation activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and prototyping: lead projects from concept through CAD (2D/3D) to prototype and final assembly
- Field integration: plan and execute physical installation of systems on heavy vehicles (100+ ton trucks), develop technical documentation, and train personnel for scaled deployments
- Autonomy hardware: develop and integrate drive-by-wire hardware, sensor mounts, actuators, and system architecture planning
- R&D and iteration: work on research and development for new vehicle platforms and continuous improvement of existing hardware kits
- Cross-functional collaboration: partner with electrical and software engineering teams on electromechanical subsystem design and vehicle integration
- Supply chain management: source components and manage suppliers to ensure quality of custom parts
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 2–5 years of professional experience; advanced proficiency in 3D CAD tools; hands-on experience building mechanical systems (workshop, machining, fabrication); design-for-manufacturing experience (CNC, sheet metal, 3D printing); advanced or fluent English for global team communication and technical documentation; ability to work autonomously in fast-paced environments.
Desirable: automotive or heavy equipment industry background; robotics systems and sensor integration familiarity; hydraulic systems knowledge; compliance and safety standards (OSHA, CE, ASME); valid driver's license (Category B).
