Column is a developer-first bank and financial infrastructure platform founded in 2019 by veterans from Plaid, Square, Meta, Blend, and Affirm. The company simplifies banking infrastructure by combining banking and software capabilities, eliminating the traditional complex supply chain of vendors and middleware providers.
As Emerging Markets Lead for Central Asia, you will spearhead Column's strategic expansion into Eastern Europe and Central Asia. This is a 0-to-1 role on the founding team for a new banking product line, offering significant autonomy and direct impact on global expansion strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end market development: identify, evaluate, and execute high-value partnerships with banks across target markets
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing customers through in-person meetings, industry events, and ongoing partnership management
- Lead complex deal processes from initial outreach through contract signature, collaborating with Legal, Compliance, and Product teams
- Develop market intelligence on local conditions, regulatory developments, competitive landscape, and customer needs
- Become an expert on correspondent banking in key emerging markets and build extensive networks within banking and fintech ecosystems
- Build scalable processes for onboarding, relationship management, and support that can be replicated during expansion
Required qualifications:
- 6+ years in business operations, growth, or partnerships at high-caliber organizations (top-tier tech or management consulting preferred)
- 4+ years of business experience in Central Asian and Eastern European markets
- Native Russian fluency with demonstrated experience managing business relationships with Russian-speaking stakeholders
- Track record of successfully managing complex partnerships and high-value deals with executives
- Natural networker who builds trust and long-term relationships with senior decision-makers
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to assess market opportunities
- Excellent project management and ability to coordinate across multiple teams
- Scrappy, hands-on attitude with zero ego
The role is based in Dubai with regular regional travel and quarterly travel to San Francisco headquarters.
